binge knitting give away

I have been working on a few projects for some time now, but I can't show them here because they are gifts. But I realized as I was working the other day that I never photographed the hats I made some time back, so I thought I would show those off instead.

In that last trimester of the pregnancy, sitting and knitting felt like the most relaxing thing in the world. I knit and knit and knit. Even when I didn't really have anyone to knit for - sort of binge knitting, if you can do such a thing - which left me with these three little hats, size 18 months to 3T. Now the yarn is 100% Aran wool and I actually went all the way to Ireland to get it. Back in my single-girl days, my friend Margaret called me and said, "Ummm.. Kelly? Do you want to go to Ireland?" And I said, "Umm.. yes." So we did. Now at the time, I didn't really know much about knitting. I'd made a couple scarves and only knew how to knit, not purl, but I was sure that I would learn one day so my quest for real Aran wool began. It wasn't hard. Seriously, there's probably a shop in every town there. I got a bunch of it but never used it until this year.

What to do with them? I thought that maybe, I would give one away. And maybe, just maybe, try putting the other two on etsy. Which to me is so very scary. But you never know... it could end up being only slightly scary.

So if you want to win the cozy, little, hand-knit, 100% Aran wool hat size 18m-3T pictured above, go ahead and leave a comment. I'll pick a name next Wednesday.

Those are gorgeous! Enter me!

I'm with you on fearing etsy, and I admire you for entertaining the idea. Go for it!

I attended a baby shower last night where one of the gifts was the most delightful, most delicate, most beautiful knitted baby cap. Everyone swooned over it. When the party broke-up I made a beeline for the giver/knitter of the cap and asked her if she could possibly teach me to knit. We'll start in January!

You can enter my name if you like, but I'd also really like the pattern to these hats, if there is one. Did you just create as you went along? They're beautiful!

Your hats are beautiful! I have also been to Ireland, the Aran Islands were my favorite... if only I had been clever enough to purchase yarn like you did!

These are adorable for both a little girl or boy. They would be great for my little nieces who are moving from Florida to Wyoming for a year and a half. They will need to keep warm there, and down here it hasnt been a problem, so they aren't really prepared

These are lovely - and a trip to Ireland... wow!
I knit for others but only rarely for my granddaughter... She'd look darling (well, even more darling!) in this and it's the perfect size.
Thanks!
