jammin'

strawberries

I made strawberry-rhubarb jam the other day, and it was my very first time canning. I have to say, I was a little bit intimidated at first, but it all turned out. All the jars sealed, and one's in the fridge for scones and toast.

Now I'm on the hunt for the next thing to can. My neighbor has a tree with ripe sour cherries...

Oh, Kelly... I'm so proud of you!!! Canning is something that I *want* to try but I'm too scared to give it a go on my own. And, don't you have to have some special equipment, like a canner or something? I'm clueless.

Your jars of jam are beautiful, and so are your photos. Rock on!

No special equipment other than the jars I bought from the store and a stock pot (the jars had to boil under an inch of water for 10 minutes).
And thank you :)

Yum! Same here-- I've always wanted to try, and I'm so scared I'll poison my family! Maybe I'll give it a shot afterall....

Jam is a good one to try, I've heard, if you're worried about poisening ;) I guess the acidity of the fruit helps to guard against... stuff... clearly, I'm an expert.
